Maine Finance director

The campaign of Graham Platner for Senate is seeking a Maine Finance Director for the 2026 election cycle in Maine. Graham Platner for Senate seeks to do what no Democratic campaign has done in over 30 years: unseat incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins.

The Maine Finance Director will help oversee the fundraising program as it relates to in-state fundraising efforts including house party fundraisers and Maine Finance Committee coordination and play an integral role in flipping the only Republican held Senate seat up for election in a state that was won by Vice President Kamala Harris in 2024. This is an exempt, full-time, mid-level position based in Hancock County, ME covered by a collective bargaining agreement. Graham for Maine is a proud supporter of the labor movement.

ABOUT GRAHAM

Graham Platner is a Marine and U.S. Army veteran, oyster farmer, chair of the Sullivan Planning Board, and candidate running for U.S. Senate in Maine, running to defeat Susan Collins and win back the seat for working Mainers.

Whether it was enlisting in the US Marine Corps or coming back home to Maine to work in his community or running for senate, at the core of every decision Graham has made has been how he can best serve the people of Maine.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive in-state fundraising plan with clear monthly and quarterly goals for major donor outreach, grassroots fundraising, and events.

  • Help lead day-to-day finance operations, including tracking donations, managing databases, and ensuring accurate financial reporting

  • Identify, cultivate, and maintain relationships with major donors, bundlers, PACs, and fundraising committees in the state of Maine

  • Organize, plan, and execute fundraising events, including in-person and virtual fundraisers, receptions, and grassroots events opportunities in the state of Maine.

  • Assist the Finance Director with event organizing, planning, and execution of both national and in-state fundraising events, including in-person and virtual fundraisers, receptions, and meet-and-greet opportunities. 

  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Director, consultants, and candidate to set and achieve ambitious fundraising goals

  • Play a role in the campaign compliance process, ensuring timely and accurate financial disclosures and adherence to all FEC regulations

  • Assist with training and managing of finance staff, interns, and volunteers by providing guidance, support, and fostering professional development

  • Coordinate and execute the candidate's call-time program, preparing briefings, donor lists, and tracking outcomes for 20+ hours weekly

  • Analyze fundraising data to identify trends, refine strategies, and maximize fundraising efficiency

  • Build and maintain relationships with in-state fundraising networks and stakeholder organizations

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1+ cycles of campaign experience; statewide preferred

  • Expertise in donor cultivation, major donor solicitation, and event management

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with diverse donors and stakeholders

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with Excel, Google Drive, and NGP is required; experience with ActBlue, Numero, and CallTime AI is preferred.

  • Great interpersonal skills, and a positive and thoughtful attitude

  • Ability to communicate clearly and proactively

  • Strong familiarity with FEC compliance, including reporting requirements for federal elections

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Knowledge of Maine's political and fundraising landscape preferred

JOB DETAILS
Graham for Maine is a proud supporter of unions, and this position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement. 

  • The role includes health insurance and other benefits, and the salary falls within the negotiated range of $4,000–$7,000 per month, depending on experience.

  • Location: Hancock County, ME, with travel in state and out of state travel as necessary

  • Reports To: Finance Director

  • Target Start: ASAP

  • Hours: The position’s schedule will vary based on the day to day needs of the campaign. It will require regular evening and weekend work over the course of the election cycle.
