About the Campaign

Graham Platner for U.S. Senate is building a bold, people-powered campaign to win in Maine and help reshape the future of our democracy. This campaign will be energetic, disciplined, and values-driven—focused on real issues, real people, and real solutions.

We are seeking a Press Secretary to support and execute the campaign’s day-to-day press and media operations.

This role is ideal for a sharp, motivated communicator looking to play a central role in a competitive U.S. Senate race.

The Role

The Press Secretary will manage daily press operations, support earned media efforts, draft communications materials, and assist with the candidate’s media engagement. This role works closely with the broader campaign team to ensure consistent, timely, and effective press outreach. This position is eligible to be included in the campaign’s collective bargaining unit, subject to the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for reporters and media outlets

  • Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, statements, and talking points

  • Assist with pitching earned media and booking interviews

  • Support candidate preparation for interviews and public appearances

  • Track media coverage, news cycles, and political developments

  • Maintain press lists and media tracking

  • Help coordinate press around campaign events and announcements

  • Support rapid-response messaging as part of the communications operation

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in communications, press, journalism, or political campaigns (campaign experience preferred but not required)

  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to work quickly and accurately under deadline

  • Professional judgment and discretion

  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through

  • Interest in politics, media, and public storytelling

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends as needed
